Scholarship & Personal Improvement Program

Nov 12

All children should have the basic right to pursue education. For those living in orphanages, realizing this dream is very difficult because once they turn 18 years of age, they are expected to leave the orphanages with minimal, if any, further assistance. Without shelter, monetary assistance or employment, these young adults are set for life of hardship and failures. Our program addresses this existing gap between life at the orphanage and “independent 18 year old young adults” to decrease the existing tendency of orphaned children falling into poverty and delinquency. For individuals who exhibit good academic standing and willingness to continue their education, we provide scholarships, housing assistance and small stipends that allow these young adults to continue their studies at the local universities. A number of candidates are selected each year based on their grades, written essay, two recommendation letters and an interview that exhibit a peculiar interest of each student in obtaining university diploma. Students chosen into the program have to maintain excellent academic standing and perform a number of hours of community service or internship to further develop their professional skills that will improve their likeliness of obtaining a good job.
