Ildijana Hodzic was born November 2, 1988, in Uzice, Serbia. The president of the women’s organization that worked with women refugees recommended Ildijana for our scholarship. She met her as a refugee from Srebrenica, together with her mother, sister and brother.
Ildijana was a very active member of this organization, attending classes and workshops while still in high school. She was described as punctual, persistent, creative and hardworking, the one who is a very good team worker.
She graduated from vocational high school but soon realized that she will need a college education to find a job. She went back to high school tofinish the additional year necessary to obtain the traditional high school diploma as a part-time student and applied to college.
Ildijana graduated university in 2017. She would like to be able to help people and ensure a brighter future for her and her family.
