Mousika program

The idea to do something special for Women's Day was born at the beginning of last year. I proposed my idea to the president of the Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired in Foča, whose members are elderly but very creative people whose work has not been seen by a large number of people.

This is how the creation of the "Mousika" Program began, in which the idea was to have as many Associations from different cities as possible participate. The very meaning of "Mousika" is the art of the muses, and we know that the muses were inspirations for many artists, and with this program I wanted to acknowledge all women, mothers, and sisters.

The goal was to raise the awareness of the general public about people with disabilities, to show how much and what they can do. The successfully implemented program took place on March 19, 2023. and people from Višegrad, Foča, East Sarajevo, Vlasenica and Zvornik participated.

First, a cultural and artistic program was organized in the City Theater of Foča, where users of the Association from the mentioned cities presented their recitations, dances and songs with instruments. After that, an exhibition of their works for sale was organized in the Center for Culture and Information in Foč, where knitted, embroidered, decorative and various handicrafts were exhibited.

The experience was unforgettable, full of laughter and fun. Students of the Faculty of Medicine in Foča were volunteers who helped the entire program to be carried out without error. The volunteers supported the program participants who went on stage, as well as at the exhibition, where they themselves bought many works.

The money from the tickets went to the Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired in Foča, who were the organizers, together with me, the initiator of the idea, and we also received great support from many sponsors, including the Tourist Organization of Foča, the Museum of Old Herzegovina and the Center for Culture and Information Foca. After the program, all participants had an organized lunch at the "Zlatna Dunja" Tavern.

For me personally, the International Women's Day, celebrated in this way, was like the biggest bouquet I received in my life.
