The Story of Nidzara Pecenkovic: She Wrote a Book—What Happened Next Will Inspire You!

Some people have a way of making their passion for education and community transcend borders and time. One of those people is Nidzara Pecenkovic, whose journey with the Bosana Foundation began nearly a decade ago. It all started in 2015, when, as a board member of BAPA, she first supported our fundraising efforts. But her connection with Bosana quickly grew into something far more personal.

When asked why she supports Bosana, her answer is simple yet powerful: "I believe in Bosana's mission. Supporting young people in their goals of gaining an education and helping them have opportunities is the best way to invest in Bosnia."

But Nidzara’s story doesn’t stop at donations. Recently, she took her commitment to a whole new level. She wrote a book, Bus Ride to Nana & Dido’s House, and organized a fundraiser, dedicating all proceeds to Bosana—and even matched the total amount herself. For her, giving back is more than a gesture; it's a way of life deeply rooted in her own experiences.

"Scholarships, grants, and fellowships supported me through three degrees, and I'm so grateful for those opportunities," she shared. "Now, it's my turn to help make someone else's educational dreams come true, and it gives me such pleasure to do so."

Her passion for education isn't just about financial support—it's about building a community and inspiring others to dream bigger. As a college professor, she spends her days surrounded by students who, in her words, "inspire me with their criticality, creativity, positive energy, and love of the world."
